If you've seen my Instagram, I've been very transparent and open about the various disordered eating cycles I've experienced since I was a teenager.
I grew up as a competitive athlete, playing sports almost every season. Because of this, I never really had an issue with my weight but had a sweet tooth and insatiable craving for foods that caught up to me by the time I hit my teens. I honestly didn't know how to manage my eating habits for the longest time, and started to overexercise to compensate, which led to constant burnout from the gym and overexerting myself with cardio.
I felt like I tried everything, every diet, and nothing changed. I held onto a lot of extra fat even when I was eating very little, and gained a lot of weight when I started eating regularly because I had shot my metabolism. Which resulted in an endless cycle of overfeeding and underfeeding.
My workouts suffered because I wasn't fueling my body properly for the effort I was putting into the gym.
I was ALWAYS exhausted and was about ready to give up. Not to mention, looking at other people on Instagram who seemed to already have the results I wanted, doing workouts and HIIT circuits I was afraid to try, all made it seem impossible.
After putting so much work in at the end of 2016 and still not reaching my desired goals, going vegetarian and feeling tired all the time, then binge eating and drinking and still seeing no progress, and then going back to a regular diet, I made a resolution for myself for 2017.
A mindset shift was necessary.
I decided to start taking weight training more seriously and go on a meal plan to give myself some consistency.
I haven't looked back since. It honestly felt as if I had cracked the code.
After all of this, I finally figured out how to get my nutrition in check, and later enlisted help from coaches to stay accountable and guide me through the journey. Everyone needs that accountability! I've been at plenty of different body compositions so I UNDERSTAND the frustration when you don't get the results you want. We’re not here to spin wheels, we’re here to get you going towards a body you’re happy and healthy in.
